Coach O’Donnell played his high school ball at Middlesex H.S. where he was an All-State Group 1 and All-Middlesex County Player.  He moved on to start at short stop for 4 years at Division III power Kean University where the team won its 1st ever NJAC Championship.  Coach O’Donnell was awarded for his play as a member of the All-NJAC team and an NJCBA All-State player.  He was also recognized as the team MVP at the conclusion of his senior year.  Following his college career he took over as the Head Coach at his alma mater, Middlesex H.S.  In 2007, his first season at the helm, the Blue Jays captured the schools 2nd Group 1 State Championship in extra innings.  The Jays continued their success with 5 consecutive division titles, a Greater Middlesex Conference Championship in 2012 and then in 2013 the Blue Jays, under Coach O’Donnell’s leadership captured another, the schools 3rd, Group 1 State Championship and broke the school record for wins.  The 2012 and 2013 teams finished the year ranked in the top 20 in the New Jersey.  Coach O’Donnell has had the pleasure of coaching 4 Louisville Slugger All Americans, 3 All State Players, 13 All County Performers, and numerous All Division athletes.  Furthermore, there are 18 former Middlesex Blue Jays Baseball Players that moved on to play at the college level during his 8 season as the head coach.  He moved on with a career record of 144-62 and currently serves as the Director of Athletics for Middlesex H.S.
